
Sharon Holder Parker first established her piano teaching studio while she was in college. She completed the Bachelor and Masters of Music in Piano Performance from Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi. Sharon taught Preschool and Kindergarten music classes for a 300-student early childhood program, continued her piano studio, and accompanied at several local churches. She then moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to attend Louisiana State University where she completed 72 hours of doctoral study in Music Education. While in Baton Rouge, she was also trained in the Yamaha Music Education System as a keyboard class instructor for preschool-age children. Sharon and her husband, David then relocated to Omaha, Nebraska for his appointment with the United States Air Force as a percussionist with the Heartland of America Band.
Since moving to the Liberty/Kansas City area in 1996, she has continued to teach all ages in both private and group piano. Sharon served for fifteen years at the collegiate level at Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska, Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Calvary University in Kansas City. Besides her experience as a college instructor of Music Theory, Music Appreciation, Piano, Organ and Piano Pedagogy, Sharon has been an Accompanist and Vocal Music teacher in five school districts: Clinton (MS), Park Hill, Liberty, North Kansas City and Blue Springs. She has also served as organist and handbell director at Liberty United Methodist Church since 1996.
Sharon served in the past as Vice President for Publications and Vice President for Local Associations and Collegiate Chapters on the Executive Board of the Missouri Music Teachers Association, and is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through the Music Teachers National Association.
In July 2021, Kawai America selected Sharon as a Medallion Preferred Educator for the Kansas City area. As a part of this award, Sharon has been gifted the use of a Kawai GL-40 Grand Piano for the upcoming year.
